Director: Kevin Kerslake
Album: Nevermind
Released: 1992
The second video release for Nevermind, Come As You Are is a mysterious video with some interesting imagery.
The video expands on many of the concepts found in the artwork for the Nevermind album, with Cobain requesting `lots of purples and reds`. Kurt also insisted that the faces of the band be obscured throughout the video. The rest of the band had some input as well, and director Kevin Kerslake was impressed with their artistic savvy.
The video takes the water theme from Nevermind and runs with it, with images of guns floating underwater, seahorses, sperm, water rushing down stairs, and a stream of water used to obscure the band. For one scene of the video, Cobain hung from a chandelier for an hour, taking rests on a ladder between takes.
The rest of video was shot on a sunny day in a park in Hollywood Hills. A clip from this can be seen at the very end of the video, with the band lying on the ground.
