Director: Chris Hafner
Album: Nirvana
Released: 2002
Directed by Chris Hafner, the You Know You’re Right music video is the latest and possibly last official Nirvana music video.
The video is essentially a collage of live performances, interviews and candid shots of the band. It includes clips from the band’s appearances on Saturday Night Live in 1992 and 1993, MTV’s Unplugged In New York as well as many of the live performances featured on Live Tonight Sold Out.
Between these clips and various still photos, there are also many shots of the band and Cobain destroying their gear.
Hafner did a remarkable job of syncing Cobain’s vocals to appear as though he is actually singing the song. Scenes of Grohl’s drumming mirror the changes and accents found throughout the song.
The video was released in 2002 - eight years after Cobain’s death - and helped push “You Know You’re Right” to the number one position on the Billboard Modern Rock charts.
